S1E65 - 065 - Elinor Honigstein
About moving to a new country, building local communities and common colture and religion.
Moving to a different county is hard. It’s even harder to leave your local community and start from scratch. Elinor Honigstein, Israeli-born,living in London for the past 16 years with her German husband and 3 girls was my guest this week. Elinor has been part of the core team who set up the community programme at the largest Jewish Cultural Centre in Europe, JW3. We talked about both her personal experience of being a foreigner and about her job as Head of Community Programme at JW3, bringing people together for their love of art, drama, storytelling; a shared language; a common stage of life; geographical proximity; a similar country of origin, and engaging them with the centre and its programme. Elinor’s passion is in supporting foreign-born local communities, particularly the Israelis and Russians who live in London, and creating a positive impact on their lives. I heard about her challenges and successes and how to commbile online with offline activities.
